Led by our in-house PGcert small animal cardiologist, our cardiology referral service runs from our clinic in Wivelsfield.

We offer first-opinion care and a referral service for our own clients and referring vets.

How we can help

Early diagnosis and careful monitoring can make a real difference in managing heart disease.
We can support heart-related issues such as:

• Heart murmurs.
• Episodes of collapse or weakness.

We offer a thorough and structured approach to heart health, including:

• Detailed heart examinations.
• Blood pressure measurement.
• ECG (heart rhythm analysis).
• Thoracic imaging (digital x-rays, where required).
• Echocardiography (heart ultrasound).
• Diagnosis and staging of heart disease.
• Long-term management plans.
• Holter monitoring via outsourced equipment.

A typical cardiology consultation lasts 30 to 60 minutes and might include:

• Taking a detailed history and carrying out an examination.
• Heart monitoring (ECG and blood pressure).
• Ultrasound scan (if indicated) – your pet may need to spend the day with us.
• A clear explanation of our findings.
• A personalised treatment or monitoring plan.

We can also show you how to support your pet at home through monitoring their breathing, administering medication correctly and recognising signs that they require urgent veterinary care.

We offer a range of packages as part of our cardiology service. All patients will receive the basic cardiac package, with some requiring further treatment depending on the findings after the initial investigation.

Our basic cardiac package is £680 and includes:

• Initial consultation.
• Blood pressure assessment.
• Echocardiography.
• ECG.

Following on from this initial assessment, we can also offer the following at an additional cost:

• Cardiac blood panel including T4 Cardiac blood panel, including T4 thyroid panel.
• Thoracic x-rays (usually performed under sedation or general anaesthesia).
• Holter ECG assessment.

You will always be provided with a complete referral report following our assessment of the patient, this is provided as part of our service and there is no additional cost for the report.
